Dave Zerr Experiences Big White... Again!
It was with a great deal of excitement and anticipation that I returned to Big White with my two son's after having worked there many years ago. To say that what I found was "unbelievable", would be an understatement!

Dave Zerr The skiable terrain & runs have nearly doubled, the number of lifts (many of which are high speed) have nearly tripled, and the on-hill accommodation has increased by four times. The transformation has been so extensive that one has to look carefully to find earlier existing landmarks.

Fortunately Big White also has many things that have not changed. The great snow at Big White is still as abundant as ever and coupled with mild temperatures becomes an unbeatable combination. Also the Village being located on the hillside means that you can still ski to and from your accommodations and leave the car keys on the counter making it a true "destination resort". Last but not least I continually encountered friendly and personable staff that were always very helpful. I even managed to find a few long serving peers to share a story or two with!!

While there is a vast array of restaurants available on the hill, for nostalgia sake we went to Snow Shoe Sam's for supper and finished our visit with a famous "gun barrel coffee". It just doesn't get any better than that.

I would like to congratulate Big White on its 50'th Anniversary! There have been a lot of changes in the ski industry and at Big White. Change is inevitable and exciting but what I found most appealing was that the core values at the heart of Big White remain unchanged and true to this day making it one of this country's premier resorts and a "must see" for anyone that has yet to experience it.
