Underground Pizza Spicing Things Up this Season with 60 Kinds of Hot Sauce
“We've got everything from super mellow to blow-your-head-off hot,” says owner Alan Reid, who’s slowly making his way through the collection with the help of some friends. “People seem to really enjoy watching their friends suffer so we can facilitate that for them.”
Reid says the restaurant will be offering a “Wheel of Hot Sauce.” For a minimum donation of $2, guests can sample four of the hot sauces, with all proceeds going directly to the Kelowna Food Banks at the end of the ski season. “This way your pain will not be in vain,” he says.
The rapidly growing hot sauce collection isn’t the only thing new at Underground this season – Reid and his team installed a bar and found more room to display over 250 license plates from all over the world and from as early as 1939.
Underground is introducing a couple more handmade pizzas, salads and vegan options to its menu, as well as a kids’ “Make Your Own Pizza” – which comes with a huge chef hat that the kids can decorate and keep as a souvenir. “We've found in the past that if you can keep the kids occupied then the parents can relax as well,” Reid says.
