    SCAM ALERT:
It has come to our attention that Rental Scams circulating on the internet and social media platforms have affected our community recently. We have noticed an alarming increase in fraudulent rental listings, with scammers posing as landlords and enticing unsuspecting individuals and new resort employees with attractive rental offers. Their tactics often involve requesting upfront payments, security deposits, or personal information before handing over the keys to the property.

To safeguard you and our community from falling victim to these scams, we urge you to follow these essential tips to protect yourself:

    1. Verify the source: Always double-check the legitimacy of the rental listing and the contact information provided. If anything seems suspicious, proceed with caution.
    2. Avoid upfront payments: Never make any payments before physically inspecting the property and signing a legitimate contract.
    3. Meet in person: Whenever possible, arrange to meet the landlord or agent in person and tour the property before making any commitments.
    4. Use secure payment methods: When making payments, use reputable and secure platforms to protect your financial information.
    5. Report suspicious listings: If you come across a suspicious rental listing, please report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and to Big White Ski Resort immediately.
    6. Check for known scams: Visit https://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/scams-fraudes/azindex-eng.htm to gain an understanding of known scam tactics.

As a community, we must remain vigilant and support each other in identifying and combatting these unscrupulous scammers. By spreading awareness and adhering to the best practices outlined above, we can minimize the impact of these scams on our community members.

Please feel free to share this information with your friends, family, and colleagues to ensure their safety as well. Together, we can create a safe environment for everyone seeking rental accommodations.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to hr@bigwhite.com.
