Two Big White Ambassadors Nominated to Canadian Ski Team

Posted On: June 17, 2025 |
Two of Big White’s brightest ambassadors have just been nominated to the Canadian Ski Team — a major step forward in their competitive careers and a proud moment for our mountain community.

Sam Peters, a rising star in para-alpine skiing from the Big White Ski Club, and Finley Cashin, a dynamic ski cross competitor representing the Okanagan Ski Team and Evolve Ski Cross, have both been recognized for their skill, grit, and relentless pursuit of excellence. The final team roster will be confirmed this fall, but the nomination alone is a powerful endorsement of their talent and potential.

Meet Finley Cashin: Chasing the Dream on the World Stage

Finley Cashin has his eyes set on international success — and he's already making waves. After an impressive season on the Nor-Am circuit, where he placed second overall (the top Canadian and North American), Finley has proven he’s ready for the next level.

Sam Peters: Dominating His Debut

Sam Peters made his mark early. In his rookie season on the FIS para-alpine circuit, the Big White athlete racked up multiple podium finishes — including an incredible three gold medals in slalom at a major event in Utah. That performance earned him a coveted qualification for the World Cup in Switzerland and a spot on the radar of Alpine Canada selectors.

Peters is an athlete to watch as Canada gears up for the 2026 Winter Paralympics. His technical prowess, speed, and consistency make him a formidable presence on any slope.

A Big Year Ahead

With their nominations secured, both Peters and Cashin are now laser-focused on the road ahead—training, racing, and striving toward the ultimate goal: representing Canada on the world’s most prestigious stages, including the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Italy. As official members of Team Canada, they’re set to embark on a demanding and exhilarating season, competing across the Nor-Am, Europa Cup, and World Cup circuits. For those who qualify, the season’s pinnacle will be stepping onto the global stage at the Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games (February 6–22) and the Paralympic Winter Games (March 6–15), proudly wearing the maple leaf.

“Congratulations to these amazing athletes who have been nominated to the Canadian Ski Team,” said Therese Brisson, President and CEO of Alpine Canada, in the press release: Athletes nominated to 2025–26 Canadian Ski Team ahead of Milano Cortina 2026. “An Olympic and Paralympic year is a special one and one that I hope these athletes can enjoy — and one that I am confident they will thrive in.”

Support Our Athletes

The road to the podium isn’t just paved with talent — it takes time, money, and a strong support system. Big White is proud to back its ambassadors and encourages the broader community to get involved.

With increasing travel and training costs, Cashin is also calling on the ski community, friends, and supporters to help fuel his Olympic dream. Donations are being accepted to help fund his 2025/26 season and keep this talented athlete racing. Donate to support Finley Cashin here.
