Meet Dane: The Heart and Soul of Big White’s Snowboarding Community
A few years later, Dane enrolled in a GAP program run by Nothinbutsnow, which brought him to Big White Ski Resort. He decided to pursue a career in instructing, inspired by the world-class program and trainers who took immense pride in their work. He reflects, "It left a mark on me, and I've tried to uphold that high standard ever since."
Now a CASI Level 4 snowboard instructor, Dane brings a wealth of international experience to the Ski & Snowboard School at Big White, having honed his skills in Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Despite his global experience, Big White's diverse terrain, excellent accessibility, and exceptional snow conditions have consistently brought him back for the past nine seasons.
Dane's versatility in teaching has been instrumental in his impact on the Big White community. He has refined his skills to instruct guests of all types and ages, playing a key role in the Ski & Board School's special programs. His popularity with guests has helped him build a loyal clientele, making him a role model for the younger instructing team. Dane has also been pivotal in training fellow snowboard instructors, focusing on developing their teaching abilities to ensure consistently world-class customer experiences. Moreover, he has spent several years working on the GAP Programs, developing new CASI snowboard instructors now teaching worldwide.
Dane's infectious enthusiasm and love for snowboarding inspire and excite both the snowboarding staff and community members. In his new role as Technical Director of Snowboarding, he is determined to share this passion and pride in teaching with the snowboard instructors at Big White. His ultimate goal is to elevate the Big White Ski & Board School, ensuring its recognition as one of Canada's premier destinations for learning snowboarding.
