Thrills and Triumphs at the Teck Ski Cross BC Provincials
Organized by the Big White Ski Club, the event attracted nearly 140 racers to the challenging and exhilarating TELUS Park Ski Cross track, drawing teams from across British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and even some eager participants from Skykomish, Washington.
Teams from renowned clubs such as Apex, Cypress, Vernon, Revelstoke, Sun Peaks, Big White, Mt. Seymour, Grouse, Whistler, Lake Louise, Golden Kicking Horse, Rabbit Hill, Nakiska, Alberta North FIS, Evolve Ski Cross Team, Blue Mountain, and Mt. Tremblant, amongst others, made their presence felt. The competition saw racers across various categories, including U14 Women/Men, U16 Women/Men, and FIS Women/Men, demonstrating the breadth of talent and the inclusive spirit of the ski cross community.
The Competition Heats Up
The event kicked off with a bluebird training day on Thursday, setting the stage for tight-timing sessions on Friday. Despite the weather challenges during the weekend, the athletes displayed remarkable resilience and determination. The exceptional track hosted by Big White Ski Club saw its own athletes making a significant mark with multiple podium finishes, showcasing the local talent.
Celebrating Excellence
The event wasn't just about the competition but a celebration of the ski cross community. The banquet at the Happy Valley Day Lodge on Saturday night, featuring a buffet dinner, a DJ, and a special appearance by Olympic medalist Kelsey Serwa, highlighted the camaraderie and spirit of the participants.

In the U14 category, talents like Nikita Ciesla, Haylee Laurell, and Cecily Gibbons shone for the women, while Eames Kim, Alec Brayman, and Jayden Cai made their mark among the men. The U16 categories saw fierce competition, with standout performances from athletes like Chloe Anderson, Valerie Chan, Zoe Gold, Wyatt Tondl, Cory Kwan, and Dominic Reid.
FIS Categories: The Pinnacle of Performance
The FIS Women's and Men's categories were a testament to the high level of skill and competition, with Kael Oberlander, Camryn Steele, Chloe Collingwood, Kaleb Barnum, Charlie Lang, and Finley Cashin delivering outstanding performances that underscored the competitive edge of ski cross racing.
